Putting it all out there! Amy Roloff reflected on how open sheโ€™s been on Little People Big World โ€” and explained why she went through some of her dramatic divorce from ex-husband Matt Roloff on TV.

Little People, Big World’s Next Generation: See the TLC Stars’ Babies
โ€œItโ€™s a part of our life,โ€ Amy, 57, exclusively told Us Weekly earlier this month while playing a round of Usโ€™ โ€œReality Show Regrets.โ€

The TLC personality โ€” who split from Matt, 60, in 2015 after 27 years of marriage and married Chris Marek in August โ€” got real about which parts of her divorce she tried to keep away from the cameras and why.

Any Regrets? Amy Roloff Shares Why She Showed Parts of Her Divorce on 'LPBW'

โ€œItโ€™s not a fun part of life, but I tried to limit that exposure as much as much as possible or as best I could because weโ€™re doing a reality show, but I donโ€™t think people need to know every little, personal intimate detail either,โ€ she said. โ€œYou have to own it. You have to keep some of it to yourself. And to me, it was for the sake of the kids that we just [didnโ€™t] plaster this all over the place either.โ€

The Michigan native noted that she chose to keep the cameras rolling throughout some of the separation, because โ€œdivorce is hard, especially this late in my life.โ€ While it was difficult, she thought people should see that side of her reality.

Amy shares Zach Roloff, Jeremy Roloff, Molly Roloff and Jacob Roloff with Matt. When it comes to putting her children on TV, she doesnโ€™t have any big problems with how they went about it.

โ€œI think there will always be moments of regrets, you know, here and there. I think when friends and other people become involved, or [are] willing to become involved, I think I go [into] ultra-careful mode and I sometimes forget this is TV,โ€ she told Us. โ€œI think there will always be regrets, but I think thereโ€™s a huge amount of benefits [and] opportunity.โ€

The reality star explained that she and Matt originally signed on to do the TLC series because they wanted to โ€œexpose people to a different familyโ€ than is typically seen. When Chris, 59, came into her life, she briefly thought about whether the show would affect their relationship.

โ€œI was really panicked about him. Iโ€™m like, โ€˜Who in that heaven is going to date me being on this crazy show?โ€™ Or he could have absolutely said, โ€˜Hey, I want to date you. I want to get to know you but Iโ€™m not going to be on this crazy show of yours,โ€™โ€ she continued.

Ultimately, however, Amy learned that the โ€œbenefits really have outweighed [thing] more than the negativity.โ€ She added that the series has โ€œimpactedโ€ her family greatly over the years โ€” for better or worse.
